The
MAINE STATE SOCIETY serves
as a “home away from home” for Mainers living and working in
the Washington area. The society celebrated its 100th anniversary in June
1994. We are one of the largest and
most active state societies in the nation’s capital, holding at least
eight events each year.

THE MAINE STATE SOCIETY FOUNDATION was established by the Society in 1990 to promote educational opportunities for Maine residents. The Foundation raises funds and awards scholarship assistance to students who are Maine citizens or residents attending accredited four-year degree-granting educational institutions in the State of Maine.
To qualify, applicants must have completed at least two semesters (28 credit hours) with a grade point average of not less than 3.0 in a 4- or 5-year undergraduate program.
High school seniors or students who have not completed at least 28 semester hours are not eligible for this scholarship and should not apply.
